Bloom Bloom

12 Apr

Yesterday i had fun playing around with my macro tubes, doing super close ups of some flowers. I love that if you get it close enough, it’s almost unrecognisable as a flower and makes you take a second look 🙂

These little darlings are so tiny and dainty ♥

Macro tubes are so much fun! You can get good expensive ones, or really inexpensive ones from ebay to play with, which is what i did 🙂

Picnic @ Peacock Park

10 Apr

Yesterday the Mr & I went on a little expedition  to the Lake a little way out of town. It has a huge fenced park nearby, where peacocks roam free!

I packed a delicious lunch of chicken sandwiches, cheese, fruit and a few little treats. And we drank raspberry lemonade. It was delicious.

The peacocks were very interested in our lunch…but there’s something not quite right about a peacock wanting chicken sandwiches…..it’d be like eating your cousin!

We ate passionfruit and figs and oranges too.

Isn’t he handsome? I love that man.

After lunch, the Mr had a little siesta

And i wandered the park, getting back to nature

Isn't it gorgeous?

On the way home we had Sugarland up loud and car-danced all the way home 🙂

I live for perfect days like these ♥

For Katie ♥

6 Apr

So the Mr used all the eggs. We had like, two cartons last time i checked, and today when i was about to get stuck into a day of baking………………no eggs to be found. Argh!

So instead, i’m going to do a post for Katie at Chicken Noodle Gravy (if you haven’t visited her page, do yourself a favour 😉 ) because i found out she collects copies of Black Beauty!

I found this one in a second hand bookstore for 50 cents. Isn’t it gorgeous?

This is the best bit, i think. How lovely is the handwriting! Lucky Tony 🙂

Katie, I hope you had a most excellent birthday and that all your wishes come true xoxo

A day with Fifi

31 Mar

When i was home a few weeks ago, i spent a lovely day with a dear friend of mine, Fifi.

We started the day with breakfast at the best cafe in the world, Cafe Envy.

They have bowls of coffee. And juices named after the 7 Deadly Sins.

Then we moseyed through the cutest little shop, ever!

And then we circumnavigated one of the coolest bookstores i’ve ever encountered…and i’ve encountered a few…AND i found two copies of Pride & Prejudice to add to the collection!

It was a lovely day ♥ ♥ ♥

PS – Thank you so much to everyone who has been leaving such beautiful comments on my posts! I love you! xx

Etsy Love

28 Mar

You know it’s going to be a good day when you get one two THREE little etsy packages in the mail!

Let me show you my new purchases….

When i saw this gorgeous lip balm from Sage and Mage, i knew i had to have it!

When i opened the parcel the most amazing aroma wafted out – all rosy and herby and magical! The lovely Gennifer even included a sample of  her Organic Rose Chai Tea – which i can’t wait to try!

The next package was from The Chip Chop Shop – super cute bright doilies! Cheerful or what?

And last but by no means least, some delicious bits and pieces from Orange Thyme

I told you a little while ago about the Cherry lip tint i had discovered – well i used it alot while i was home on holidays and EVERYONE who saw it wanted one too. So i had to get a couple more to give as gifts!

I also got some scrumptious perfume oils – Sweet Milk and Honey, and Jasmine Grapefruit. Divine.

Have i mentioned how much i adore Etsy?

Get stuffed.

28 Mar

Georgia from Bakery Bookery posted the recipe for Stuffed Capsicums with Quinoa & Mushrooms and as soon as i saw it i knew i had to try it!

I adapted it a leeetle because –

 a) do you think i could find fresh spinach in this whole entire town? That’s a negative. So i used some buk choy (which worked out splendidly!)

b) I had sultanas in the house so used them in the place of currants.

c) I knew it would be a struggle to get the Mr to even try it because it was meatless and looked “fancy”, so omitted the nuts in an attempt to make it more “Mr – friendly” (although really, he should just suck it up and eat what i cook 😉 )

d) Also “stuffed” some portobello mushroom cups.

It was surprisingly simple to do, and totally easy to mix and match and adapt. Thank you so much for posting it Georgia, it was delicious!

We wandered back outside to the “picnic nest” i’d made earlier in the day – see the post below!

‘Neath the orange tree

27 Mar

This afternoon i was overcome with the need to be one with nature. So i dragged miscellaneous picnic rugs and blankets out and set up camp under our orange tree.

A few books kept me occupied

As did an old journal that i hadn’t written in for a year!

I made good use of a huge floppy straw hat

Would you care to join me under here? There's plenty of room 🙂

But in the end all that chillaxing got a bit much, so i laid back and watched the clouds roll by  ♥

And now i’m off to try a new vegetarian recipe! Xx
